Srinagar, November 3: The Jammu and Kashmir government has fired, Hizbul supremo Syed Salahuddin son, Syed Shahid Yousuf from his job in the agriculture department. Yousuf was apprehended by the National Investigation Agency in connection with a terror-funding case.

The order, which was issued today by Director of Agriculture Altaf Andrabi, said that Yousuf is deemed to have been suspended from the date of his arrest.

The officials termed the suspension as routine. Every government servant is deemed to be suspended within 48 hours of his or her arrest under the civil services conduct rules. However, in this case, the state government had sought some clarifications from the NIA before issuing the order.

Yousuf was arrested by the NIA in connection with a 2011 funding case for allegedly receiving money from his father, who is currently based in Pakistan.

The former has been allegedly receiving and collecting funds through international wire money transfer from Saudi Arabia based Hizbul Mujahideen member Aijaz Ahmed Bhat. The NIA claimed he had received a total of nearly Rs 4.5 lakh through eight international wire transfers.

Shahid Yousuf is a resident of Soibugh Budgam. Shahid is the third son of known terrorist Syed Salahuddin who is also a supreme commander of the United Jihad Council which is a conglomerate of more than twelve terrorist outfits. Shahid has a Masters in Agriculture from a university outside Jammu and Kashmir and he was regularised in the state’s agriculture department in March this year, after 8 years of service.
