Seoul, November 3: Ahead of US President Donald Trump’s long Asia visit, two U.S. strategic bombers conducted drills over South Korea. The main motif of Trump’s Asia visit is to shut down North Korea's nuclear programme and before that the bombing exercise can be called as a show of force.

The B-1B bombers based in Guam were escorted by two South Korean F-16 fighter jets during the drills. Though the drills simulated attacks on land targets didn't involve live weapons. The exercises also involved South Korean and Japanese fighters.

In an obvious manner, the drill has created tension in the region. North Korea’s state-run media condemned the exercise and termed it as a "surprise nuclear strike drill". “The reality clearly shows that the gangster-like U.S. imperialists are the very one who is aggravating the situation of the Korean peninsula and seeking to ignite a nuclear war,” KCNA said.

“The U.S. imperialists are making last-ditch efforts to check the dynamic advance of the DPRK by deploying their nuclear strategic assets in succession, but its army and people are never frightened at such moves,” KCNA reported.

US President Trump is starting his Asia visit from November Friday to the countries including Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. He will conclude visit on November 14.
