Infiltration countered by Soldiers in Machil; one militant killed

Kupwara, November 4: Indian Army countered the infiltration bid by the militants on Friday which resulted in the killing of one militant at Machil in Kupwara district. It is still ascertained that if the militant was part of any larger group or he was alone. The operation is in process.

 

According to the local media, Army’s Srinagar-based spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that on Friday morning some suspicious movements were noticed by the soldiers which were alert on the Line of Control. The militant opened fire which was reciprocated and the short clash between the militant and soldiers which led to the killing of the militant.


In 2016, 371 militants tried to infiltrate in which 35 were killed by the soldiers, while the jihadi recruitment was increased by 55 percent. The statement released by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha stated that until June 2017, there were 42 infiltrates in the valley which took the total numbers to 4565 from the period of 2005-2017.
