India exports 60% of the manufactured sports goods: Suresh Prabhu

New Delhi, November 5: 60 % of the total sports goods manufactured in India are exported says the minister of commerce Suresh Prabhu while talking about the growth in export rate of the nation .The overall growth in the export sector has benefited the country he added. India’s sporting goods are popular around the world and have made a mark in the global sports goods market.


 

As compared to last year there is a rise of around 2 % in the export rate. In the financial year 2015-16 the sports goods were exported worth Rs 1458.50 Cr whereas goods were exported worth Rs 1512.36 Cr.

 

“This is a steady paced growth in Indian exports of sports goods” says Prabhu. India exports the sports goods across the world in which exports to countries like New Zealand, Netherlands and Canada have shown a good growth.

 

Nearly 19 % export of goods to New Zealand was increased in the 2016-17 as compared to last year whereas nearly 10 % to Netherlands and nearly 2 % to Canada was increased in 2016-17.
