Encounter in Latehar district, one militant killed and one arrested

Ranchi, November 6: An extremist was killed in an encounter with the security forces on Monday in the militant-affected district Latehar, located about 130 km from Jharkhand's capital. The arrest of a commander of Naxalites is also reported. The encounter between the police and the Maoists is still going on.

 

According to the local media, Police said that JJMP's Maoists attacked the security forces who were on regular patrols in the forests of Manika block in Latehar district. The security forces counter-attacked in which one militant killed and one was arrested. Police said that Naxalite named Kamlesh Yadav was arrested and he is said to be the commander of JJMP.

On September 25, three members belonging to Communist Party of India’s Maoist Group- People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were gunned down while two others were injured during a joint operation carried out by Jharkhand Police and CRPF on Odisha Jharkhand border. On November 1, an encounter took place between the PLFI's Maina Squad and the Khunti Police in which the area commander of PLFI and the militant Maina Gope were killed besides three militants. The three have not been identified.
