Security forces eliminate Masood Azhar’s nephew Talha Rasheed with his two close associates in Kashmir

Srinagar, November 7: At least three terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit were killed by the security forces on Monday after the fierce encounter took place in the Aglar Kandi region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Notably, Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar’s nephew Talha Rasheed was among the three terrorists who were killed in an encounter with the security forces.

 

Security forces eliminated Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar’s nephew Talha Rasheed along with his two close associates including an outfit commander Muhammed Bhai after a heavy gunfight took place in the Aglar Kandi region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The third terrorist was identified as Waseem who was a resident of Drubgam Pulwama.


Heavy arms and ammunition including an M16 rifle, two AK-47 rifles and a pistol were recovered along with the body of slain terrorists. Unfortunately, during this gunfight an army personnel Sham Sundar was martyred. These terrorists were involved in the attack at a police post on Sunday, in which a constable Abdul Salam was martyred.

The encounter began as security forces including troops of 182 battalion and 183 battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police were carrying out a cordon-and-search operation after receiving information about the presence of a few suspected terrorists in the area the Aglar Kandi region of Pulwama district.


However, the civilian was injured in clashes between local residents and security forces that ensued as the encounter was on. Internet services have been blocked in the district. The encounter comes a day after two Pakistani infiltrators were killed by Indian army after they tried to sneak in the Indian side in the Uri sector of Baramulla district along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.


BACKGROUND:

The Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that at least 180 terrorists are eliminated by Indian troops in a time period of only 10 months.

The slain terrorists included over a dozen top commanders including Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Abu Khalid, Abu Musaib, the nephew of Mumbai terror attack mastermind and Lashkar-e-Taiba leader, Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, Lashkar-Toiba Kashmir chief Abu Dujana, Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, Amarnath attack mastermind and Lashkar-Toiba Kashmir chief Abu Ismail and others. There are over 220 militants active in Kashmir.
