Ahmedabad, Nov 7: Launching a scathing counter-attack on former Prime Minister ‘Mauni’ Mammohan Singh (MMS) Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani asked him to break his silence on scams and corruption cases happened during his tenure as Prime Minister during the ten-year-long UPA rule.

Gujarat is going to polls next month and Congress is trying desparately to gain back the lost ground in the state. Senior Congress leaders are toruing the state. Party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has been concentrating on Gujarat from where the Congress was ousted from power since last over two decades.

“Dr. Singh, we know silence is your way but you could at least have spoken when crores of rupees left India as black money in your term?”, the firebrand Gujarat Chief Minister asked MMS through tweeter.

In a series of tweets, that have been re-tweeted and liked and shared by thousands of people on social media under the #SpeakUPMMS, Rupani completely bared the former Prime Minster and exposed the hollowness in his claims on demonetization and GST.

“Did UPA undertake even a single measure to bring back a paisa of Black Money to India?”, the Gujarat CM wanted to know.

Describing MMS as the Prime Minister of the most corrupt government in India’s history, Rupani wanted Dr Singh to apologise to 125 crore Indians for the misdeeds and loot during the UPA regime.

“As PM of the most corrupt Government in India’s history, shouldn’t Dr. Singh apologise to 125 crore Indians?”, the Chief Minister tweeted.

Raising the issue of Sardar Sarovar dam, permission to raise the heights was denied during the UPA government, the State Chief Minister asked the former PM to apologise to the people of Gujarat for stalling the work on Narmada Dam for ten years.

“Dr. Singh, please apologise to people of Gujarat for stalling work on Narmada Dam for 10 year. What sinister motives guided you?” Rupani tweeted.

Warning the Congress leaders that people of the state would not believe in their empty words, Rupani alleged that the Congress leaders come to the state and remember Sardar Patel only during the elections.

He accused the former PM of benefitting only one family and not about the nation. Had UPA thought about the nation, things would be different, the Chief Minister said.

“Organised loot & plunder is what UPA did for 10 years. If UPA thought about the nation, not 1 family, things would be different.”

Extending a warm welcome to the former PM, Rupani said that that people of Gujarat were also keen on asking him a few questions. Being an economist MMS should have supported GST as the move was aimed at benefitting every Indian citizen. Why did he not do that, Rupani wanted to know.

“Being an economist, one would expect Dr. Singh to make business environment easier but UPA made it tougher. What was the reason?”, the Chief Minister tweeted.

The Chief Minister alleged that the MMS government did nothing to improve the ranking of India in ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and helping the MSME sector. India in the latest World Bank report has scaled 30 steps up the ladder to secure 100th position in the Ease of Doing Business ranking.

“Dr. Manmohan Singh, why was there zero effort on your part about improving ‘ease of doing business’ rankings in India & helping MSME sector”, the Gujarat Chief Minister tweeted.
