More 100 million dollars promised by India towards UN partnership fund

Bonn, November 7: Towards the UN partnership fund, India has committed an additional 100 million US Dollar as the support is significantly increasing for the sustainable development projects across the developing world. Earlier this year, as a partnership between India and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) the India-UN Development Partnership Fund, was set up and with seven Pacific Island countries the first project from the fund is being executed in partnership.

 

According to the local media, the Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, Anjani Kumar at the 2017 UN Pledging Conference for Development Activities said that to various other UN programmes this contribution would be in addition to India's contribution of 10.582 million US dollar.

He further added that India had contributed a fund of 5 million US dollar from which 2 million US dollar would be used for reconstructing hurricanes affected areas like Dominica, Antigua, and Barbuda. He also said that UN should have excess funds so that it should finance its activities in the proper manner.
