Highlighting its rich literature, Telangana set to host World Telugu Conference for the 1st time

Hyderabad, November 7: World Telugu Conference is set to take place in the month of December. Telangana Chief Secretary S.P. Singh directed the officials to speed up the works pertaining to conduct of World Telugu Conference in Hyderabad from 15th to 19th December.


Addressing a review meeting at the State Secretariat today, Singh asked the officials to constitute different committees to execute the works. He said there would be four venues of World Telugu Conference. Proper arrangements should be made for food, transportation, barricading and other facilities. Further, he said there must be effective coordination among various departments. He said special arrangements should be made for the delegates from other States and foreign countries. 

Officials of the State Education Department asked the committee members to take steps to ensure complete participation of various schools, junior and degree colleges and professors at the World Telugu Conference.

During the event, there would be special desks at the airport and railway stations for foreigners. Government Advisor Dr KV Ramana Chari said the core committee members of the conference said they were invited to visit Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai on November 4. The members then invited well-known authors and poets residing in those cities to the conference.

The five-day Prapancha Telugu Mahasabhalu (World Telugu Conference) will be held. This is the first time that the World Telugu Conference is being conducted in Telangana state. Nandini Sidda Reddy, Chairman of Sahitya Akademi, said that the conference would highlight the Telangana dialect that had been suppressed for 100 years. “We will be bringing together cultural agencies, poets, writers and others with the motive to emphasize the greatness of Telugu language and the Telangana dialect,” he said. As part of the preparations, discussions and seminars are being held across the state.
