Kolkata, November 8: On the one year anniversary of demonetization while people are celebrating its success, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has marked the day as a black day. She alleged it as the biggest scam which would be proved later. Challenging her allegation, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha said in Kolkata, 'Demonetisation is not a scam'. He challenged the former on the issue.
Previously Trinamool Congress said it would observe November 8 as 'Black Day' to protest against demonetization across West Bengal. Even Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee changed her profile picture on Twitter as a black image to protest symbolically.
In reply to all these rantings, Sinha said "This is very unfortunate that we have seen this kind of violence in Bengal. We are working for the development of the state while the Trinamool Congress is working for the destruction of the West Bengal. When demonetization was introduced, we thought it would take the country forward but people's objection towards it is not helping the country.”
The minister in Kolkata spoke on 'Economic Impact of Demonetisation' at Indian Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata. Later he addressed a public meeting in Rajarhat, Kolkata.
