Asian Women's Boxing Championships: Mary Kom wins fifth gold medal in 48 kg category

Ho Chi Minh City, November 8: Five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, Mary Kom clinched her fifth gold medal in 48 kg category after defeating North Korea's Kim Hyang Mi by 5-0 in Asian Women's Boxing Championships at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on Wednesday.

 

In her sixth appearances, this was Mary’s fifth final. This is the first international gold medal for the Olympic bronze-medallist since the 2014 Asian Games and her first medal in over a year.

In Asian Women's Boxing Championships, India won seven medals including a gold medal, one silver, and five bronze medal at the world championship silver-medallist, Sonia Lathar finished as a runner-up for the second time in the event.
