Bhubaneswar, November 8: Odisha set to host ‘National Bird Festival’ at Chilika in January-2018. Chilika is one of the largest salty water lakes of Asia. If you want to know more about the migratory birds, then do not miss to attend the National Bird Festival to be held at Chilika next year. The festival is expected to attract tourists, bird watchers, wildlife photographers, painters and researchers from across the globe. 

Be it Pintail Ducks or Pelicans or Flamingos, one can now get ample opportunity to watch the migratory birds from close quarters and also know more about Chilika’s rich biodiversity at the birds festival.

Odisha government has made elaborate plans to allow visitors to watch the migratory birds at Mangaljodi and Nalbana from close range during the bird festival that will be organized in January 2018.

The festival is likely to play a crucial role in boosting tourism particularly at Chilika which always has been drawing people from different parts of the country and abroad, said Culture and Tourism Minister, Ashok Panda.

Various painting and photography competitions will also be organized during the Chilika bird festival. “People from outside the country can know more about Chilika and visitors can watch the birds from close quarters as special arrangements will be made in this regard,” said Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Environment, Suresh Mohapatra.
