New Delhi, November 8: The election commission of India (EC) has ruled against showing the outcome of Exit poll results for Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat assembly election prior to December 14 evening.
Election Body said "conducting any exit poll and publishing or publicising by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner, whatsoever the result of any exit poll in connection with the current general elections to the legislative assemblies of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat shall be prohibited" between 8 am of November 9 to 6 pm of December 14.
It is further clarified that under Section'126(1)(b) of the R.P. Act, 1951, displaying any election matter, including results of any Opinion Poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media, would be prohibited during the period of 48 hour ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll in connection with the aforesaid General election.
Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, the electioneering for the ensuing state assembly election concluded Tuesday evening.
More than fifty lakh voters will seal the fate of 336 candidates including 19 women contesting election for 68 member's state assembly in a single phase on Thursday. 7,525 polling booths have been readied for polling where 11,050 VVPAT machines will be deployed.
