Chandigarh, November 8: Punjab police on Tuesday busted an ISI backed terror module and arrested four persons who were allegedly involved in many targeted killings of religious leaders including RSS leader Brig Jagdish Gagneja (Retd), RSS activist Ravinder Gosain, Pastor Sultan Masih and two Dera Sacha Sauda supporters.

While addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said that the police have busted an ISI backed terror module after arresting 4 persons who were involved in many targeted killings of religious leaders. Notably, the conspirators who have been arrested also includes a gangster named Dharmendra alias Guggni.

“The Pakistan based intelligence bureau ISI was directly involved in these targeted killings of religious leaders including RSS leader Brig Jagdish Gagneja (Retd), RSS activist Ravinder Gosain, Pastor Sultan Masih and two Dera Sacha Sauda supporters with an aim to create communal disturbance and destabilize Punjab,” Captain Amarinder Singh added.

The Punjab Chief Minister also said, “Though the Punjab government had handed over the case of the killing of RSS State Vice President Brigadier (retd) Jagdish Gagneja to the CBI, the state police had cracked the case with the busting of the latest terror module, the eighth such module to be busted since the Congress came to power in the state.”

Referring to the police investigation and interrogation of suspects, Captain Amarinder said the killing of another RSS leader, Ravinder Gosai, last month, had also been solved with these arrests, which had been linked to most of the cases of targeted killings in Ludhiana, Khanna and Jalandhar since January last year.

Punjab CM also noted that the interrogation and preliminary investigation suggests that all the four conspirators are well trained and had been using encrypted mobile software and apps for communication with handlers based in Pakistan and some western countries.“The ISI was always looking to disturb the country's peace and radicalize the youth,” said the Chief Minister concluded.

Importantly, three of the suspects are identified as a Jimmy Singh, Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi and Dharmender alias Guggni. However, the identity of the fourth suspect was not released as the interrogation and investigation are still on.

Jimmy Singh is a resident of Jammu and recently returned to India from the UK after spending many years there and was arrested from Delhi's IGI airport. Jagtar Singh Johal is a UK national who got married last month and was nabbed from Jalandhar. Dharmender is a gangster from Meharban in Ludhiana who allegedly supplied weapons to the killers.
