Swachh Maharashtra: Around 42 lakhs toilets constructed in past 3 years

Mumbai, November 8: “Every citizen of the nation should be a part of ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission” is the belief of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has always appealed to the public that giving ten minutes of time towards cleanliness will benefit our upcoming generation. This Clean India Campaign is shown up by Maharashtra government with a unique grace. The state government of Maharashtra has recorded construction of around 42 lakhs of toilet all over the state in last three years.

 

Devendra Fadnavis government’s commitment to make Maharashtra an Open Defecation Free (ODF) state is on a more concrete level. As the state has made 384 cities ODF whereas around 27000 villages ODF.

As open defecation invites many infections like diarrhea, intestinal worm, typhoid, cholera, hepatitis, polio, trachoma etc. it affects humanity as well as environment.

 

“Toilets are available now we have to insist public to use it properly by carrying mass awareness programmes” says CM Fadnavis. “This is just a first step towards cleanliness, we have many to do yet” he added.

 
 

Chief Minister also stated that almost the Urban Maharashtra is ODF and Rural Maharashtra will be ODF by March’18. Also working on Sewage Treatment Plants, treatment on waste water, scientific segregation to make ‘Clean Maharashtra’ a reality is in progress.
