Panjim, November 8: Good news for the tourists who wish to visit Goa. Ferry services will start by this December from Mumbai to Goa. This was announced by the Union Minister of Shipping Nitin Gadkari during the review meeting of All Major Indian Ports. The vision behind this service is to provide enjoyment to the tourists as well as create jobs.

As of now there are three means of transportation between Mumbai and Goa like road, air, and rail but from year-end one can reach by waterways enjoying the mind-blowing scenery of the route. There will be some stops in this ferry service like at Vengurla, Malvan, and Ratnagiri which will enable carrying more passengers and could cover more area in the Konkan region as well.

“Improving Coastal transportation will create jobs and employment which will give a boost to the economy,” says the minister.

Under the ambitious Sagarmala project this is one of the small milestones towards it. For the first time, a separate session with Public Private Partnership (PPP) operators and other stakeholders was held to obtain feedback, to fast-track the implementation of projects and to restart the slowed down projects. This will improve business in shipping sector.
