Japan PM Abe leaves for his 7 days trip to Vietnam, Philippines with an aim to promote free trade

Tokyo, November 9: Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has departed for his 7-day trip to attend the annual meeting of regional leaders. The Japanese leader who has left for Vietnam and Philippines also has plans to have bilateral talks with global leaders like Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I want to have frank discussions with the leaders of each country, appealing to them about the need to raise the pressure on North Korea to the maximum possible extent in order to make it change its policies," Abe said before leaving.

Japan is trying to promote free-trade in Asia-Pacific region for long days. Hence in the forum of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, Japanese Prime Minister will try to promote free and fair trade along with issues about the economy to support sustainable economies.

Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga also said Japan "plans to lead discussions to serve as a driving force in promoting free trade and the economy in the Asia-Pacific region."

In January, Washington withdrew Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal leaving Japan as a major force in TPP. Hence the remaining signatories will try this time to reach an accord to bring the treaty without the US.
