With creative melange of top International films, IFFI-2017 is all about ‘Celebrating the Future Cinema’

Panaji, November 9: 48th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) set to kick start from 20th November which will go on till 28th November. This time ‘IFFI-2017’ is all about ‘Celebrating the Future Cinema’. Many actors like Shahrukh Khan, Divya Dutta, Rajkumar Rao, Karan Johar etc are going to set the stage on fire. 

As a regular event during IFFI, the Entertainment Society of Goa will have a special section of premier of films produced by Goan film producers in Feature and Non Feature Film. The registration process is in full swing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commented saying IFFI is an excellent platform for showcasing the breadth of India’s cinematic excellence to the world. Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been promoting the IFFI in a full swing and audience too enthusiastically responding to the updates.

 
 

Just like every year, IFFI, Goa will be hosting a grand inauguration night in the presence of acclaimed actors, directors and artists from across the country as well the world.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan said "I feel proud to go there and welcome all the delegates and guests that are coming from around the world.”

 

IFFI festival ground has been turned into an old village and the theme of the festival this year is 'New Age Cinema.' Four large theatres, with a capacity of 150 seats, each have been set up on the festival ground. These theatres are enabled with 5.1 sound systems. The festival ground will have a separate space for performing arts and stalls for food, beverages, and handicrafts.

 
 

A three-member team of a jury will be selecting the best film and best directors from all the entries. The names of the jury are still not made public. This year's focal country is Canada and a delegates' team from Canada is expected to present in the festival.

The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) will hold a special premiere section to showcase films produced by Goans. Abhay Jog's Mahaprayan, Suyash Kamat's Marisoul, Mandar Talauliker's Zuzari and Brijesh Kakodkar's Tiffin Box are the four selected films till now in this category

Started way back in 1952, the first ever IFFI was organized by the Films Division, Government of India, with the patronage of the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) aims at providing a common platform to the cinemas across the world to project the excellence of the art of film making. This India’s most prestigious festival is also the first International Film Festival held anywhere in Asia.
