I-T officials raid office, residences of Sasikala and her associates

Chennai, November 9: The residences, offices, and farmhouses of Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai and Bengaluru which belongs to Sasikala and her associates were raided by the income tax officials on Thursday morning. The Income Tax officials have carried out such large-scale raids against the Mannargudi family first time in over 20 years.

 

According to the local media on the information of tax evasion, the raids were conducted by various establishments belonging to the associates of Sasikala. The black money holders, benaami transactions, and investments were under the radar of the Centre due to which the raids gain significance.

The officials raided Jaya TV, Namadhu MGR, Jazz cinemas and Midas distilleries which belongs to most of Sasikala's family. Talking about the raid, the leader of AIADMK, TTV Dinakaran said that this was a political act of revenge and he would face it legally.

Officials opened the locked Jayalalithaa's Kodanadu residence which was also raided. Even the Jaya TV founded by Jayalalithaa which worked as a mouthpiece of the AIADMK was not spared. Already, the two-bench Supreme Court jury found guilty and ordered the arrest of Sasikala in a disproportionate-assets case. She was expelled from the Party including her husband M. Natarajan.
