DGP SP Vaid said, "Around 170 terrorists have been eliminated this year only in Kashmir and this is record going by the last ten years. Except for 4 to 5 commanders, other top terrorists are already gunned down."

Around 170 militants have been gunned down by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir this year and these include a majority of the top commanders active in the Valley, the state's Director General of Police (DGP) Dr SP Vaid said today. There is a tremendous success as far as 'operation allout' is concerned. The credit goes to the officers and jawans who work in the field," he added.

Also lauding the coordination between security forces, DGP SP Vaid said that there was very good coordination between the police, Army and other security agencies and claimed that "most of the top leadership of Hizbul and LeT had been neutralized" except a few odd ones.

“The eliminated terrorists include Masood Azhar's nephew Tallah Rashid, Jaish-e-Mohammad's Mehmood Bhai, Lashkar-e- Toiba's Abu Dujana and Waseem Shah as well as Burhan Wani's successor Sabzar Ahmad Bhat of the Hizbul Mujahideen,” The police chief noted.
The Police chief also said that a new phenomenon of suicide attacks by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit was observed recently. He further stated that the JeM has been instrumental in carrying out suicide attacks, which is a new trend, but the security forces and police have been facing this challenge.

Talking about the infiltration, DGP SP Vaid said that army was doing a great job in controlling the border and checking infiltration. “But since it is a difficult border, some people are managing to enter. But in the hinterland, they are getting neutralized," he added. In the end, the police chief asserted that the counter-terrorism operations will continue and very soon peace will return to Kashmir. I am hopeful that things will improve further", he concluded.
