Centre approves National Highway project to connect two sacred places of Sahibzadas in Punjab

Chandigarh, November 9: Keeping the agenda of all round infrastructural development in Punjab, strengthening tourism sector effectively, the Prime Minister Modi led central government has given an approval of the national highway to link the Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and Sri Chamkaur Sahib.

 

Notably, the central government has given in-principal approval for linking these historical religious places Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and Sri Chamkaur Sahib with the national highway. The national highway would be constructed at the cost of Rs 500 cr. for connecting both the religious places.

The Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi said that with the approval of this project long-awaited dream has become reality. He further informed that the national highway would be constructed at the cost of Rs 500 cr. for connecting both the religious places.

Cabinet Minister Channi also said that with this approval now 31 kilometre stretch of this national highway would be connected from National Highway-5 near Prem Nagar - Morinda - Chamkaur Sahib - Bela - Panyali with National Highway-344A. He further noted that that the historical places of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and Sri Chamkaur Sahib would now be directly connected with the birthplace of Khalsa, Sri Anandpur Sahib directly through the National Highways.

Mr. Channi further added that this would reduce traffic at Kharar and Chandigarh, as traffic connecting Delhi from Hoshiarpur & Himachal Pradesh would now easily move through this National Highway directly connecting with National Highway-1 at Sirhind.

Expressing happiness over the approval of connecting these important historical religious places with the National Highway, Minister Channi thanked Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Governor of Punjab V.P Singh Badnore for taking up his proposal with the Central Government on top priority.

Minister Channi also thanked Union Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for giving approval to this important project. He said that it has also fulfilled the long-awaited demand of the area for connecting with the national highway.
