3 policemen including DIG killed in suicide attack in Pakistan

Islamabad, November 9: At least 3 police officers including Deputy Inspector General Police Hamid Shakeel were killed and 8 others injured after their motorcade was targeted in a bomb attack in Quetta, Pakistan.

As per reports the injured were rushed to the Combined Military and Civil Hospital for the treatment. Reportedly, the health condition of the personnel is critical. Police have cordoned off the area and an investigation is underway. 

SP Security Quetta Police, Javaid Iqbal said that the DIG was on his way from his home to office when the bomb blast occurred. Five police personnel who were also injured in the attack were shifted to CMH for treatment.

At least four vehicles and two motorcycles were also damaged in the explosion. According to police, the bomb was planted on the roadside after hiding it in a blanket, and it was detonated with a remote-controlled device.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Quetta. In a statement, he said such dastardly acts are reflective of the defeated mentality.

The Prime Minister said such acts cannot shake our resolve in the fight against terrorism. He appreciated contribution and sacrifices of police force in elimination of terrorism and restoration of law and order.

Meanwhile, Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the bomb attack on Police vehicle.

In October, Eight policemen were killed after unidentified attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into their truck. Over 20 others were wounded in the bombing.
