PM Modi's emotional appeal to Gujarat: Vote heavily and ensure that BJP wins in every polling booth across the state

New Delhi, December 12: Election Campaign for the Gujarat Assembly Polls 2017 ended today by 5 pm. But just before the clock strikes 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emotionally called upon 6.5 crore Gujaratis and urged them to vote heavily for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). 

 

Notably, PM Modi posted a series of emotional tweets in which he not only summed up the entire campaign but have a heartfelt appeal to 6.5 crore Gujaratis for the upcoming polls. He said, “I urge my sisters and brothers of Gujarat to vote in record numbers on the 14th. I call upon the people of Gujarat to not only give the BJP an overwhelming majority but also ensure that BJP wins in every polling booth across the state.”


Appreciating the peoples participation in his rally, PM Modi tweeted, “During my travels across Gujarat, the level of affection I have received from the people is unparalleled in my 40 years of public life. This affection gives me strength and motivates me to devote all my time for India’s development.”



Hitting out at the opposition, PM Modi said, “The lies that our worthy opponents have spread, about Gujarat, Gujarat’s growth and about me personally is something I had never imagined. It is natural for every Gujarati to feel hurt. People of Gujarat will give a fitting reply to the negativity and lies of the opposition.”


PM Modi while promising to 6.5 cr Gujaratis said, “With the Government of India and Government of Gujarat working together, the strength rises manifold. This 1+ 1 is not 2 but 11 and together we will take Gujarat to new heights.” “No Gujarati will let go off a golden opportunity of development of our youth and coming generations. Victory of BJP is a guarantee for a bright future,” the Prime Minister added.

Earlier, in the day, PM Modi traveled from Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad to Dharoi Dam via seaplane. He offered prayers to Maa Amba at the Ambaji temple. PM Modi also interacted with party’s OBC Morcha workers through audio bridge technology.

On the other side, Congress President designate Rahul Gandhi also visited Jagannath Temple at Ahmedabad and offered prayers. Later, Rahul Gandhi addressed his first press conference as Congress president on last day of campaigning for the second and final phase of Gujarat Assembly elections. He said the party was confident of winning the polls.

Interestingly, Gujarat is an election-bound state and saw 66.75 voter turn-out in the first phase as per revised Election Commission’s figures. This is lower than last time’s 71.3 percent for the whole state. Over 2 crore 22 lakh people are eligible to exercise their franchise in the second phase, out of which one crore 7 lakh are women. The fate of 851 candidates will be decided in this phase. Polling for 93 seats in this phase will be held on Thursday and counting will be taken up on the 18th of December.
