Only 2072 villages are left to be electrified under rural electrification scheme ‘DDUGJY’

New Delhi, December 12: Electricity brings a smile on the face of millions as it helps them to study, to earn, to work etc. Therefore, with an aim to electrify the villages of India, Government of India till now brightened 99.6% of census villages till date and only 0.4% percent villages are remained to be electrified.

 

However, Seventy years have been passed since India got the independence from British rule but still there are thousands of villages that survive without electricity. But after Prime Minister Modi led central government came into power, at least 5,95,392 villages out of 5,97,464 census villages have been electrified till date and remaining 2072 villages will be electrified soon. While 100% electrification is done in all villages of twelve states so far.

Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, West Bengal and Sikkim are the states where 100% villages are electrified till date and rest will be brightened soon.

Chhattisgarh

Out of 19,567 census villages, 19,414 villages (99.2%) have been electrified. 153 villages are yet to be electrified.

Odisha

Out of 47,677 census villages, 47,515 villages (99.6%) have been electrified. 162 villages are yet to be electrified.

Jharkhand

Out of 29,492 census villages, 29,337 villages (99.4%) have been electrified. 155 villages are yet to be electrified.

Bihar

Out of 39,073 census villages, 38,971 villages (99.7%) have been electrified. 102 villages are yet to be electrified.

Manipur

Out of 2,379 census villages, 2,326 villages (97.7%) have been electrified. 53 villages are yet to be electrified.

Mizoram

Out of 704 census villages, 694 villages (98.5%) have been electrified. 10 villages are yet to be electrified.

Meghalaya

Out of 6,459 census villages, 6,422 villages (99.4%) have been electrified. 37 villages are yet to be electrified.

Assam

Out of 25,372 census villages, 25,182 villages (99.2%) have been electrified. 190 villages are yet to be electrified.

Arunachal Pradesh

Out of 5,258 census villages, 4,213 villages (80.1%) have been electrified. 1,045 villages are yet to be electrified.

Jammu and Kashmir

Out of 6,337 census villages, 6,242 villages (98.5%) have been electrified. 95 villages are yet to be electrified.

Uttarakhand

Out of 15,745 census villages, 15,712 villages (99.7%) have been electrified. 33 villages are yet to be electrified.

Karnataka

Out of 27,397 census villages, 27,390 villages (99.9%) have been electrified. 7 villages are yet to be electrified.

Notably, the government of India took the initiative to electrify all the villages under rural electrification scheme Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY). The project has been taken in a mission mode and strategy for electrification consists of squeezing the implementation schedule to 12 months and also dividing village electrification process into 12 Stage milestones with defined timelines for monitoring.
