Mohali, December 13: Skipper Rohit Sharma’s sensational knock of a double century and gritty half-century knock from opener Shikhar Dhawan and middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer provided Indian team to register a commanding win over Sri Lanka in the second ODI which was played at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali in India on Wednesday.

After this massive win, India has leveled the three ODI series by 1-1 against Sri Lanka. Notably, India registered a commanding win over Sri Lanka in the second ODI by 141 runs. However, Skipper Rohit Sharma outstanding knock of 208 runs, while Dhawan’s 68 and Shreyas Iyer’s quick 88 runs helped India to post a massive total of 392 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in stipulated 50 overs after they were invited by Sri Lankans to bat first in Mohali cricket ground.

Sri Lankan bowler Thisara Perera clinched three wickets while Sachith Pathirana got one wicket. In reply, Sri Lankan batsmen managed to score 251 runs only for the loss of 8 wickets in their stipulated 50 overs inning. All-rounder Angelo Matthews scored a terrific knock of 111 runs and remained not out in the innings but wickets kept falling continuously at the other end.

None of the Lankan batsmen was able to stand in front of Indian bowling attack. Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bagged three important wickets while pacer Jasprit Bumrah got two wickets in a must-win match. Other bowlers including Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and debutant Washington Sundar got 1-1 wickets respectively.

Importantly, India made just one change, replacing Kuldeep Yadav with debutant Washington Sundar. Washington, 18, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder, bats left-handed and bowls off-spin. He was impressive for Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL last season. On the other side, Sri Lanka did not make any changes to their line-up. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the first match in Dharamsala convincingly by seven wickets after bowling out India for 112.
