Japan places India at the center of its Indo-Pacific strategy: Japanese Ambassador

New Delhi, December 14: India and its all-weather friend Japan’s bilateral relation is one of the strongest of its kind. From working on maritime security together to act east forum and on many other issues, the countries have a great bonding. Japanese envoy to India Kenji Hiramatsu said that India is an obvious, essential, and the most reliable partner for Japan to work with. Moreover, the country places it at the center of its Indo- Pacific strategy.

"India is an obvious, essential, and the most reliable partner for Japan to work with, in coping with the challenges that the world faces today. Japan places India at the center of its Indo-Pacific strategy," the ambassador said while he was addressing a gathering on the occasion of the National Day reception at the Embassy of Japan.

He also referred to the recent visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to India. During the visit, Japan PM undertook several meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi strengthening the relationship more.

He also referred that Japanese FDI in India has almost doubled from USD 2.6 billion in 2014 to USD 4.7 billion in 2016 which indicates on growing interest of Japanese companies to invest in India. In addition to that, retail, services sectors, and start-ups could be new sectors of the relation.
