India, Morocco ink MoUs for enhancing health, road and water sectors

New Delhi, December 14: Today India and Morocco signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for enhanced cooperation in the health sector.The main areas of cooperation under the MoU, include non-communicable diseases, including child cardiovascular diseases and cancer; drug regulation and pharmaceutical quality control; communicable diseases; maternal, child and neonatal health; hospital twinning for the exchange of good practices and training in administration and management of health services and hospitals. 

Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare J P Nadda and Dr. Abdelkader Amara, Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Morocco signed the MoU in the presence of senior officers from the Union Health Ministry and a high level delegation from Morocco.

Also India and Morocco signed three agreements for cooperation in road and water sectors. The agreements were signed in presence of Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water from Morocco Abdelkar Amara. The agreements signed were — cooperation between Institute of Training in Engines and Road Maintenance, Morocco and Indian Academy of Road Engineers, Cooperation in Water Resources and Framework Agreement for Cooperation in Training between the National Ports Agency (Port Training Institute) of Morocco and the IMU, Chennai.

Welcoming the Moroccan delegation Minister Gadkari said that in India lots of development work were going on in the road and water areas. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given high priority to infrastructure development in the country.
