Tokyo, December 15: Japan has been focusing on taking more strict measures to prevent North Korea from firing another missile. The Japanese government decided Friday to freeze the assets of 19 more North Korean companies as part of its unilateral sanctions.

The sanction has come in response to the North's repeated defiance of a U.N. ban on nuclear and ballistic missile tests. As per Japanese Foreign Ministry, the 19 firms deal in financial services, trade in coal and oil, shipping and the dispatch of workers overseas. As per the local report, all the newly sanctioned companies are already subject to U.S. sanctions.

The expanded sanctions are effective from Friday. Japanese Government has responded in this way as the hermit country has continued "provocative words and actions." In addition to that, it has shown a "lack of concrete progress" on the issue of Japanese nationals abducted by the North in the 1970s and 1980s.The move is timed to coincide with a U.N. Security Council ministerial meeting on North Korea's nuclear program which will start from later part of Friday.

"North Korea launched an ICBM ballistic missile that landed in our exclusive economic zone and continues to repeat provocative commentaries", Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga told.
