Washington, December 15: As North Korea is also holding its stubborn mentality in nuclear nukes issue, Washington is also gearing up its effort to pressurize the country. The United States is also maintaining contact with its “not so friendly alley” Russia on the issue. US President Donald Trump has talked about the issue with his Russian Counterpart Vladimir Putin on North Korea issue.

"On the US initiative, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump have held a phone conversation. Acute issues of bilateral relations, as well as the situation in crisis hotspots worldwide, were discussed, with an emphasis placed on settling the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue," Russia’s Kremlin press service said.

Later White House also said that the two leaders discussed working together to resolve the very dangerous situation in North Korea. The two sides agreed to maintain contact. They also discussed several other bilateral issues.

The new round of tension regarding North Korea recently flared up when North Korea fired a Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile on November 29. Hours after the launch North Korea said the new type of intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) could reach the entire U.S. mainland. The test came a week after US President Donald Trump brought back the country to the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
