Quetta, December 17: At least nine innocent people were killed while 30 others are injured in a massive bomb blast that took place near a Bethel Memorial Methodist Church in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta on Sunday. The most dangerous terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Notably, Pakistan provides a safe haven to many terrorist groups and aims to spread bloodshed in other countries. Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism but never learned a lesson from it. However, minorities including Christians, Hindus majorly live under threat in Pakistan as they are targeted heavily by radical Islamic terrorist groups.

According to the official sources, at least nine civilians including three women and two children were killed after a bomb blast took place near a Bethel Memorial Methodist Church that is situated in Quetta city of Pakistan.

However, it was a suicide attack on the Catholic Church. The first attacker blew himself near the church while a second attacker fired upon worshippers during a midday service prompting a police operation in the area. Police killed the second bomber immediately after the blast. ISIS immediately claimed that responsibility for the coward attack on Catholic Church.

Meanwhile, SSP Operations said that two attackers were killed in the exchange of fire between the terrorists and security forces. Inspector General Balochistan Moazzam Ansari, speaking to the press, said that two suicide bombers attacked the church. "One of them blew himself up at the gate of the church while the police shot the second terrorist dead and both of the attackers could not enter the premises of the church," he added.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed that terrorists targeted the church located in the area. At least 125 worshippers were present in the Church when a blast took place. The death toll may rise as few injured are in the critical stage. Importantly, the incident took place just a week away from Christmas.
