Security forces killed two JeM terrorists in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, December 19: Security forces on Monday overnight gunned down two terrorists after a fierce encounter that broke out in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy arms and ammunition along with the body of slain terrorists are recovered from the encounter site.

 

Notably, at least two terrorists including a Pakistani and a local of Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit were killed during the fierce encounter with the security forces that took place at Wanipora area of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. The body of slain terrorists has been recovered from the encounter site. The encounter has been stopped but the search operations are still underway.


The encounter took place after the security forces including Indian army and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a search operation at Wanipora area of Shopian district after getting a specific input about the presence of terrorists.

Confirming the killing of two terrorists, an Army official said the search operation turned into an encounter as terrorists opened firing towards the security forces. "Two terrorists have been killed so far and the operation is still in progress," the official added.


Earlier, in this month, security forces eliminated three terrorists and arrested one belonged to Lashkar-e-toiba (LeT) terror outfit in Qazigund area of Kulgam district. Security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that more than 200 terrorists are eliminated by Indian troops in a time period of a year.
