Foreign Exchange pours 2500 Cr more in tourism wallet than last year

New Delhi, December 20: Tourism sector of the nation is blooming year by year as the Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) have grown with nearly 2500 Crores as compared to last year. This indicates the boost in arrivals of foreign tourists. The number of FTAs in November, 2017 was 10.05 lakh as compared to FTAs of 8.78 lakh in November, 2016 and 8.16 lakh in November, 2015.

 

The Ministry of Tourism has stated Foreign Exchange Earnings (in rupee And US $ termS) through Tourism in India in November 2017 based on the credit data of Travel Head from Balance of Payments of RBI. According to the reports FEEs during the month of November 2017 were Rs.16,640 crore as compared to Rs. 14,259 crore in November 2016 and Rs. 12,649 crore in November 2015.

The growth rate in FEEs in rupee terms in November 2017 over November 2016 has increased to 16.7%, compared to 12.7% in November 2016 over November 2015.

FEEs during the period January- November 2017 were Rs. 1,60,865 crore with a growth of 16.9% over same period of previous year. Whereas, the FEEs during January- November 2016 were Rs.1,37,588 crore with a growth of 13.7% over January- November, 2015.

Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) through Tourism (in US $ terms)

· FEEs in US$ terms during the month of November 2017 were US$ 2.566 billion as compared to FEEs of US$ 2.110 billion during the month of November 2016 and US$ 1.912 billion in November 2015.

· The growth rate in FEEs in US$ terms in November 2017 over November 2016 has increased to 21.6% compared to the growth of 10.4% in November 2016 over November 2015.

· FEEs during the period January- November 2017 were US$ 24.655 billion with a growth of 20.4% over same period of previous year. Whereas, the FEEs during January- November 2016 were US$ 20.484 billion with a growth of 8.1% over January- November 2015.
