Indian boxers bagged five medals including 3 gold at Galym Zharylgapov Boxing Tournament

Karaganda, December 25: Indian boxers continue to shine at the International Sports arena. Notably, Indian boxers bagged a total of five medals including three gold, a silver, and a bronze medal at the Galym Zharylgapov Boxing Tournament that was held in Karaganda, Kazakhstan.

 

On the last day of event i.e on Sunday, K Shyam Kumar in the 49kg category, Naman Tanwar in the 91kg category and Satish Kumar in the +91kg category bagged gold medal and made the whole country proud. Also, the19-year-old Naman Tanwar was adjudged as the best boxer of the tournament.

Shyam Kumar in the 49kg category didn`t give any chance to local boy Turkbay in the finals and easily punched his way to glory and won a Gold medal for India. On the other side, Asian Games bronze medallist Satish Kumar in the +91kg category defeated Baeshev to bring home the team`s second gold.

National Champion Manish Kaushik in 60kg category clinched silver medal While Mandeep Jangra won the Bronze medal in 75 kg category after going down in the semifinals. Manish Kaushik in 60 Kg category defeated his compatriot Shiva Thapa in his final bout to seize the gold but lost to Rahimov of Uzbekistan to settle for silver.

Unfortunately, Commonwealth games silver medallist Mandeep Jangra`s courageous fight against Manashev in his maiden international tournament couldn`t help him emerge victorious as he lost out on points and ended his campaign with a bronze. The Indians finished the season-ending tournament featured five international and 15 local teams, adding up to 154 boxers in all with three gold, a silver and a bronze.
