To cheer up 19-years Afghan spinner, Gilchrist uses his image as profile picture on Twitter

Canberra, December 25: In a heartwarming gesture, Australian legend Adam Gilchrist used Afghan spinner Rashid Khan's photo as his display picture on Twitter. The 19-year old had won the man of the match award in his first Big Bash League match for his 2-22.

Gilchrist's way of appreciating the youngster has struck a chord with netizens. It may be mentioned that he started his ODI debut for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe on 18th October 2015. 

Ecstatic by the gesture, Rashid Khan shared a screenshot of Gilly's profile and tweeted, "Very proud moment when your favourite wkt keeper Batsman have your pic on his Profile. Its like dream can’t control myself to watch it again and again."

Along with being a consistent performer for Afghanistan across formats, Rashid has also done incredibly well in all the T20 leagues across the world.

He was soon showered with immense lauds from all corners of the cricketing fraternity. One of which was Gilchrist, who went to the extent to praise the young cricketer by changing his Twitter profile image to that of Rashid's picture.

Rashid has been an instant hit all over the world. Be it in the Indian Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) or even in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Rashid Khan has had a fantastic 2017 in limited-overs cricket for his nation as well. He has the second highest wickets in ODIs with 43 scalps from 16 matches and also is second in the list in the T20I list, with 17 wickets from 10 games.
