CBFC invites Mewar royal family for Padmavati screening

Mumbai/Jaipur, December 25: Central Board of Film Certification, who is looking into the matter of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's “Padmavati” has invited Mewar royal family member Vishvaraj Singh for the special screening. According to media reports, veteran lyricist and CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi on Thursday requested Vishvaraj Singh to attend the meeting with CBFC panelist in order to finalize the certification of Deepika Padukone starrer Padmavati.

Responding to the development, Singh who represents the royal family has demanded clarity on several issues where he had written a couple of letters on the content of the epic drama helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. As reported by NDTV, Singh mentioned that he would not join the meeting with CBFC officials without getting a proper reply from competent authority and makers of Padmavati.

Currently, the epic drama in under certification where CBFC will take the final call on the most controversial though most anticipated Hindi flick of the year 2017 stalled by various groups and protesters citing the alleged distortion of history.
