Sabang, December 25: West Bengal’s Sabang assembly’s by-poll was in high focus as the orientation of state politics could be assumed through it. Though ruling party All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) won the election with a record margin, oppositions, especially BJP’s rise in the share of the vote was symbolic. Trinamul's Gita Rani Bhuniya won the Sabang Assembly by-election by a record 64,000-plus margin on Sunday

Gita Rani Bhuiya, wife of ex-congress MLA Manas Bhuiya passed the test but Congress reached to the 4rth position. While Manash Buiya won by a margin of 49,167 votes, his wife managed to get better margin than him. Another opposition, CPIM continued its slide though the party retained 2nd position and saw a face-saving result. More or less, all opposition parties complained of booth rigging and unfair election.

Bengal BJP leaders were highly praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP Secretary Amit Shah as party’s vote share reached to over 18% from 2.7%. "Happy to see a significant rise in the BJP's vote share in Sabang, West Bengal," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted. "I thank the people for their support and assure them that BJP will leave no stone unturned in serving West Bengal."

On the other hand, TMC leadership arrogantly mocked the vote share, 2nd, 3rd position debate and said they don’t care about who came up what. “Our aim is to continue developing the state and ensure jobs to youths of the state. This election also proved that people have supported our party chief Mamata Banerjee for her relentless fight against anti-people policies of the central government.” TMC leader Partha Chatterjee said.
