Glocalisation in education: ‘SWAYAM’ offers 300 e-courses in Hindi and Local languages

New Delhi, December 26: Now education becomes more accessible through the launch of ‘SWAYAM’ an online portal which will have 300 e-courses in Hindi as well as in 10 local languages. These courses, which will start in the next three months, will be on cloud computing, technical English for engineers, management accounting, database management systems and advertisements and publicity.

SWAYAM is launched by Ministry of Human Resource. The aim of these courses is to develop soft skills and improve education. After passing the exams at the end of the course, students will be given certificates. Along with Hindi, these courses will be available in languages ​​such as Oriya, Tamil and Kannada.

 

Around 76 Universities have already allowed credit transfer of the course done by them. Is a MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) platform itself. It was started by the HRD Ministry in July this year. Officials said that starting the course in Hindi and regional languages ​​will help in increasing the number of students. The government wants to achieve the goal of one crore enrolments on its own till 2018.

SWAYAM is an IT platform developed in the country itself. This course can be reached anywhere and at any time. Officials said that the Ministry is also considering introduction of courses and faculty from foreign institutes.

Moreover Ministry has also planned to give Diploma in Elementary Education through SWAYAM to 15 lakh untrained school teachers.
