Seoul, December 26: Though United Nations Security Council recently tightened sanction against North Korea for its recent missile launch, even a highly optimistic person can’t hope that North Korea will easily give up its nuke development activities. As day by day, the problem is becoming more real, South Korea will create a totally different division specialized on North Korea programme to deal with Pyongyang’s nuclear program.

“As North Korean nuclear and missile threats become more sophisticated and realistic, the reshuffle focuses on creating an organizational system with expertise which can assume full charge of response policy at the level of the Ministry of National Defense,” South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense(MND) said.

The decision came as a result of mounting demand for to establish a control tower that can comprehensively handle North Korea policy. The North Korean Nuclear Response Policy Division will generally oversee tasks of responding to North Korean nuclear weapons by integrating relevant works including extended deterrence, denuclearization, and nuclear disarmament.

The new division will also have a close connection with the center which is in charge of the operational response to the North Korean nuclear and missile threats. This response center was also established in January of 2017. South Korea took several major initiatives to respond to North Korea’s threat.

“Above all things, the reshuffle has a great significance in the sense that the organization of the Ministry of National Defense, which is necessary to effectively deter and respond to North Korean nuclear and missile threats, is completely established,” the MND of South Korea said.
