New Delhi, December 26: Come out! Speak about it! Every year, around 5.8 million Indians die from non-communicable diseases including heart diseases, lung diseases, stroke, cancer, diabetes and others. Diabetes is one such subject which people ignore or neglect thinking it does not matter much. So to talk and create awareness a mobile initiative has been launched called as mDiabetes.


 

Taking this matter into consideration the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has launched a mobile health initiative for the prevention and care of diabetes ‘mDiabetes’ in collaboration with the WHO India and other partners. Over the past two decades the delivery of healthcare services through mobile phones has increased.

The increasing rate of diabetes in India has become a matter of concern for almost 60 million people that accounts to almost 7.8% of the population. In order to seek preventive measures relating to disease it is important for a country like India to have innovative ways and health literacy programs to prevent or improve such problems.

 Benefits of mDiabetes

This program under the healthcare services provide a proper overview about the disease caused due to deficiency of insulin or insulin action or both. The causes and symptoms of diabetes are also described in complete detail so that it becomes easier for the people to know about it.

While there are people who are very cautious regarding the diet during such disease the program allows people to grab whatever they like but simultaneously suggest them with necessary diet chart.

Along with this a proper physical activity for people is also provided, including the types, duration of exercise and the side effects of the same.

People in our country being ignorant and negligent over the disease they have also specified that people can check the risk factor pertaining to the sugar level of the diabetic patient. The program also creates awareness on the treatment and complications.
