Mumbai, December 27: Six-member Central Board of Film Certification panel is all set to verify the authenticity of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's most controversial though most sought after movie of the year 2017. As reported by NDTV, CBFC panel includes royal family members and eminent history scholars. The makers of Deepika Padukone starrer epic drama has been stalled by various fringe groups citing the alleged distortion of facts associated with Rani Padmini, the courageous Rajput warrior queen from Chittor.

Made with the humongous budget of 190-crore, the period drama is being bankrolled by Viacom-18 in collaboration with Bhansali production. Originally planned for December 1, presenters of Padmavati deferred the worldwide release in the backdrop of massive protest across the nation.

State governments like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh had imposed sanctions over Padmavati even before its grand release. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje expressed her concern and requested I&B Minister Smriti Irani to intervene.

Earlier, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had arranged the special screening of Padmavati and invited some media outlets. Reacting to the developments, CBFC officially reprimanded makers for violating CBFC norms by hoisting special screening even before the official certification process.

On the other hand, many petitions were filed against the release of Padmavati but the Supreme Court has turned down the plea of a nationwide ban and lambasted on social groups for instigating hate campaign against director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actress Deepika Padukone who is essaying the titular role in multi-starrer celluloid.

Initially, on the technical front, CBFC had rejected the certification application of Padmavati by citing procedural glitches. According to industry buzz, CBFC was not convinced with the details submitted related to disclaimer section, which is an important part of the certification process.

According to media reports, veteran lyricist and CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi on Thursday requested Vishvaraj Singh to attend the meeting with CBFC panelist in order to finalize the certification of Deepika Padukone starrer Padmavati.
