Acing cinematography, Anjuli Shukla wins National Award

Mumbai, December 27: Have you ever seen the world through the lens of camera? The picturesque view usually adds up to the value of a cinema. But creating this scenario for the audience is a tough job for a cinematographer. Giving it a realistic tough and capturing each and every emotion is quite a tough task. But acing the field of cinematography is one woman who has become the leading lady to win a national award of cinematography for her first film. Wining this award Ajuli Shukla created history.


 

When we take a close look at the choices made while picking a crew for a film, one can see a little light shining at the end of a long tunnel. Although an evident lack of confidence stays in the air amongst industry seniors, surprisingly, some of them have decided to prefer talent over gender. the Women and Child Development has also appreciated her efforts of winning the award.

 

Hailing from North, a city in Lucknow, Anjuli Shukla became the first lady to win the award for Malayalam film industry. It has come up like a challenge for her to shoot a film which she is quite unknown and oblivion of. Acing her skills in this profession the female has proved herself in a male dominated industry. She won the award for her Malayalam film ‘Kutty Srank’, a movie which revolves over the story of a woman.

A graduate from FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) from Pune, Anjuli Shukla has earlier worked for Hollywood movies likeBefore the Rains’ and ‘Mistress of Spices’. Along with this she also worked for Bollywood movies ‘Tahaan’ and ‘Raavan’. She is now teaming up again with the Kutty Srank director Santosh for his upcoming movie ‘Urumi’.
