Nara Lokesh assures Wi-Fi powered gram panchayats

Amaravati, December 28: Underlining the importance of internet-driven platforms in the process efficient governance, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh announced that state government is gearing up for the rural connectivity. Addressing the gathering, Lokesh mentioned that Andhra Pradesh government under the leadership of Nara Chandra Babu Naidu will provide efficient Wi-Fi connectivity to every gram panchayat in the coastal state.

Briefing about the initiate of Fiber Grid network, Lokesh said that near about said 100000 households and 3200 enterprises have been connected with Fiber Grid network. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the additional aid of Rs. 860 crore for rural connectivity.Informing about the recent collaboration of Andhra Pradesh with Google X, the R&D arm of Google, Lokesh stated that global giants are extending support to provide internet connectivity to remote areas of the state.

Yesterday, President Ram Nath Kovind dedicated Fiber Grid and drone project, a pet project of Chandra Babu Naidu to the nation. On this occasion, Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister YS Chowdary and other officials were present. AP State-run FiberNet Limited (APSFL) is looking after the work of AP Fiber grid, its operations, maintenance and other business activities.
