Dimapur, December 3: It seems that the identity of Nagas and their future has been hijacked by the radical Islamists of Bangladesh who are getting support and assistance from Pakistan. Recently the National Socialist Council of Nagaland IM group drawn flak from two organisations – Survival Nagaland and Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation (DUCCF) – for its alleged recruitments of non-Naga persons into its hierarchy.

Survival Nagaland on Thursday issued a press statement seeking clarification from the NSCN (IM) with regard to the arrest of two of its non-Naga cadres – Kabir Ahmed, a Raja Peyu and Nazmul Islam – by the Dimapur police ‘for tax collection’. Both Muslim names are typical Bangladeshi names and if the Police version is correct, it’s a great threat to the Naga movement.
The police are also said to have recovered one .32 pistol, 5 live rounds, 2580 Spasmo Proxivon capsules and ‘duplicate receipt books’ from them, reports eastern Mirror.
Denying the claims from its ‘rival’ organizations who also are working for the Naga cause, the NSCN (IM) on Saturday claimed that the two extortionists recently caught by the latter in Dimapur were not members of the armed Naga political group.
The press release by the NSCN (IM) clarified that “those non-Naga or illegal immigrants alleged to be NSCN cadres arrested with arms and ammunition, duplicate receipt book and also seizure of controlled substances, are not NSCN cadres who were arrested on 11 November by Dimapur Police Crime Branch. It also stated that the outfit was not surprised by ‘such outrageous, wild and well-framed’ allegations against the group.
