Jakarta, December 3: Bali’s biggest mountain Mount Agung has been showing active volcanic eruption since last two weeks. The island of Indonesia is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the region. Due to the volcanic eruption along with local residents, thousands of travelers including Indian nationals are stranded in Bali. Observing the situation, Consulate General of India in Bali has issued a travel advisory.

Due to volcanic activity and detected tremors inside the volcano, Indonesian Authorities have kept the alert level highest or on level IV. Hence Indian nationals who are already in Bali have been advised to avoid dangerous hazard zone declared by the authority. They are also advised to stay alert and keep well-informed about the situation through hotels, airlines, tour operators.

Travellers who are willing to go there have been advised not to embark on any non-essential visits. If someone really needs to go, he should take travel insurance to face flight cancellations or similar problems. Enough funds should be carried to meet any emergencies.

Villagers of local area who survived the 1963 great eruption think the bigger eruption is coming. “In the old eruption many people did not expect it to be big because there were small eruptions for a long time and villagers just went to the temple to pray,” a local said to a local newspaper.
