Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur allocates portfolios to his Council of Ministers

Shimla, December 30: As BJP takes one more step ahead of #CongressMuktBharat after winning the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur allotted portfolios to his council of ministers on Friday. Notably, BJP registered a comfortable win in Himachal Pradesh after winning 44 seats of the state's 68 seats.

 

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, a day after taking charge allotted portfolios to his council of ministers. CM Thakur has retained key portfolios of the Home and Finance departments of the state. However, the Chief Minister also retained General Administration, Planning, Personnel department and all other departments which are not allotted to any minister.

Mohinder Singh Thakur has been allocated Irrigation and Public Health, Horticulture and Sainik Welfare departments and Kishan Kapoor is given a charge of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Election. First-time MLA Suresh Bharadwaj has been given Education, Parliamentary Affairs and Law and Legal Affairs.

The lone women minister Sarveen Chaudhary has been allocated Urban Development, Town and Country Planning and Housing while Ram Lal Markanda would Agriculture Minister along with Tribal Development and Information and Technology. Anil Sharma, who quit the Congress to join the BJP ahead of the assembly polls, has been allocated Multipurpose Projects and Power and Non-Conventional Energy Sources departments.

Vipin Parmar has been given Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education, Ayurveda and Science & Technology, while Virender Kanwar will have Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries departments.

Vikram Singh has been given Industries, Labour and Employment, Technical Education and Vocational and Industrial Training, and Govind Singh Thakur has been allocated Forest, Transport, Youth Services and Sports departments. Rajiv Saizal has got Social Justice and Empowerment and Cooperation.

BACKGROUND: 

Earlier, Jai Ram Thakur was sworn in as the 14th chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, along with 11 other ministers, at a ceremony at the historic Ridge Ground here on December 27 in the presence of PM Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and other Union Ministers. Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 52-year-old Thakur, a five-time MLA from Siraj, and other ministers. The council of ministers has six new faces.

BJP registered a comfortable win in Himachal Pradesh after winning 44 seats of the state's 68 seats. A five-time MLA, Jairam Thakur won Siraj Assembly seat of Mandi district this time, had earlier been the party's state unit chief and a minister in a government headed by Prem Kumar Dhumal. He was born on the 6th of January, 1965 in Tandi village of Mandi district.
