Rajyavardhan Rathore felicitates winners of Youth World Boxing Championship, pledges highest support

New Delhi, December 8: While India is receiving new talents every day in boxing, Union Sports Minister Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore felicitated the boxers who had won medals in the World Youth Championship at Guwahati. A cash award of Rs.6.7 lakh each will be given by Sports Ministry to Gold medal winners of the Youth World Women Boxing Championship.

India won 5 Gold and 2 Bronze at Guwahati and was declared Team Champion. The 5 winners in this gold-winning category are Nitu, Jyoti, Sakshi, Shashi Chopra and Ankushita Boro and the 2 Winners of Bronze Medal are Anupma and Neha Yadav. The bronze winners will also receive a cash award of Rs. 2.70 Lakh each. The Sports Minister also felicitated Gaurav Bidhuri who won the Bronze medal at AIBA Elite Men World Championship held in Germany in September 2017.

He motivated the winners as he said despite odds and challenges all these girls have shown the world what can be achieved by women with grit and determination in a tough game like Boxing. He pledged all possible help and facilities to these young talents so that they can focus on Boxing to bring laurels to the country in future Olympic Games.

“I know how many problems you may have faced just to play, to train and that is why you all are an inspiration for the people of the country and the girls. Your stories need to be heard so that girls hear them and get inspired by them to play,” the minister said.
