New Delhi, September 12: After India, Afghanistan urges China to use its all-weather friendship to ask Pakistan to act on terrorism.

Addressing the joint press conference Afghanistan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani said, Pakistan must show commitment to act against terror, only building walls at durand line won’t solve problem.

“Indeed, the threats of terrorism and violent extremism in Afghanistan and South Asia would have been eliminated long before, had terrorists been denied safe havens and institutional support in the region.”

“We should make no distinction between good and bad terrorists regardless of who and where they target. This requires a regional counter-terrorism strategy that enjoys broad and deep support from the whole region to fight and eliminate terrorism as a common threat to all of us.”

Salahuddin further said “Our collective response should not only be to fight terrorism but also to address such common problems as poverty, unemployment, and a lack of socio-economic facilities and opportunities for our youth that provide an enabling environment for terrorism.”

During the day, Afghanistan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani held 'India-Afghanistan Strategic Partnership Council Meeting' to discuss key bilateral and regional issues, including India's assistance to development and capacity building as also the security situation and fight against terrorism.

Moreover, Salahuddin Rabbani, yesterday met with the national security advisor of India, Ajit Doval in his residence. In the meeting, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on security and political issues, as well as emphasized the need for unyielding fight against terrorism.
