Mumbai, September 12: The CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) has decided to refine the movie certification by calling out for the first board meeting of the newly formed Censor Board. The meeting was held on Monday and attended by Gautami Tadimalla, Jeevitha Rajashekar, Mihir Bhuta, Naresh Chandra Lal, Neil Scott Nongkynrih, Ramesh Patnage, TS Nagabharna, Vani Tripathi Tikoo, Vidya Balan, Vivek Agnihotri and Waman Kendre. Also present was CEO Anurag Shrivastava.

Prasoon Joshi said in a statement, “The purpose is clearly to make things better for all stakeholders where there is mutual respect and collaboration. It was felt that the constant fine-tuning of our sensibilities towards the changing world of cinema is desirable and also that the processes should be further streamlined for the benefit of the industry practitioners. The CBFC also decided that soon they would have an industry interaction to share the refinement of the processes and take industry inputs to make the certification process as smooth as possible.”
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced a reconstituted panel for the CBFC on August 11, the same day when Prasoon Joshi took over as the CBFC Chairperson from Pahlaj Nihalani. Actress Vidya Balan who is the newly appointed board member stated that the first meeting is a great step in the right direction “towards understanding our role as the board and determining our approach. It was reassuring to know we are all on the same page,” she said.
While Vani Tripathi says, “The spirit of understanding and sensitivity to art is the take away from our meeting.”

First Banned Film by Prasoon Joshi:
Also, the highlight of this week is the first banned film by the new CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi and i.e. X Zone. X Zone is produced by Faisal Kapadi and the content of the film is explicit which further makes it more logical for the film to be banned.
