Quoting examples of history of dynastic politics in India, Rahul Gandhi pleads not to target only him

California, September 12: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday while addressing the students of the University of California at Berkeley on 'India at 70: Reflections on the Path Forward' said protected himself over the dynasty politics by saying most of the country runs like this and that’s how India works.

 

Notably, in the university Rahul Gandhi was asked about the dynastic politics on which he said "Most of the country runs like this. That's how India works." He further said, "Dynastic politics is a problem in all political parties.

Quoting his reply with the example, Rahul Gandhi said Akhilesh Yadav who is a son of of Mulayam Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, M.K Stalin- a son M. Karunanidhi in DMK, Abhishek Bachchan- a son of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan while Mukesh and Anil Ambani- son of Dhirubhai Ambani are all examples of dynastic legacy. ‘And that's how the entire country is running,’ Rahul Gandhi added. "Even Prem Kumar Dhumal's son Anurag Thakur is a dynast, so don't go just after me," Rahul pleaded.

Rahul Gandhi also criticized PM Modi for demonetisation and GST which he said caused tremendous damage to the Indian economy. However, Rahul Gandhi also accused PM Modi for opening the space for terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, "When we started, terrorism was rampant in Kashmir. And when we finished by 2013, we basically broke the back of terror, I hugged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and told him it was one of the biggest achievements."

Slamming the central government for the incidents of mob lynching and cow vigilantism that unleashed violence, Rahul Gandhi said, "I understand what violence does, violence against anybody is wrong." "Hatred, anger and violence can destroy us, the politics of polarisation is dangerous," he said, adding that liberal journalists are being shot, people are being lynched. "These incidents are making millions feel that they have no future in their country," Gandhi added.
