Japanese PM Shinjo Abe commences his historic visit with PM Modi via road show; warmly welcomed in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, September 13: A two-day historic business centric visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinjo Abe commence with a warm welcome by Indian PM Narendra Modi at the Ahmedabad airport on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Notably, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe reached Ahmedabad to take part in a cultural road show with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The eight-kilometer long road show started from the Ahmedabad airport and culminated at the Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram passing through Sabarmati Riverfront. Also, 28 small stages were built where cultural troupes from 28 different states performed their traditional dances.


Later, PM Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Abe visited the Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram where they paid floral tributes to the idol of Mahatma Gandhi. Both leaders will visit Heritage site- Sidi Saiyad Ni Jali at Mosque in the old city area. Later in the evening, both the leaders will hold bilateral talks at Heritage Hotel in Ahmedabad followed by dinner hosted by Ahmedabad Mayor.



PM Modi and his Japanese counterpart will take part in the 12th India-Japan Annual Summit, at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar on 14th of September. The two leaders will deliver statements to the media. An India Japan Business Plenary is scheduled the same day. The two leaders will also visit Dandi Kutir, the museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, at the Mahatma Mandir.


Interestingly, this will be the fourth Annual Summit between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Abe. The two leaders will review the recent progress in the multifaceted cooperation between India and Japan under the framework of their 'Special Strategic and Global Partnership' and will set its future direction.


The two leaders will attend a public function to mark the commencement of work of India’s first high-speed rail project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, on 14th of September. The train is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities. Japan is a pioneer in high-speed rail networks, and its Shinkansen bullet train is among the fastest in the world.
